*OTHER WAYS OF USING NEWDATE 2.00*
· If you are fortunate to have KingCON up and running on your Amiga, then
you may like to know of this intresting little hack.
· Whenever you decide to open a shell on your Workbench, you can place
the date in the titlebar of every shell that is opened. Not many
people know of this little feature of AmigaDOS, so we will now reveal
all.
· The AmigaDOS command responsible is the 'newshell' command.
· We instruct the DOS command to execute a second command whilst opening
the shell. Here is the first example:-
newshell "con:20/160/600/70/Date in CLI `sys:c/newdate2 CUTCR` /CLOSE"
· Every time you ask for a new CLI, the system date will be displayed in
the titlebar of each window. For example:-
_______________________________________________________________
|€| Date in CLI Saturday 09-March-1996 |€|€|€|
|-+-------------------------------------------------------------|
| | |
· NOTE: It is very important to have the CUTCR option specified.
· You are also free to use any of the other options supported by NewDate,
however, it is recommended that you do not use the install features
in this situation.
· I cannot guarantee this to work on RISC based Amiga OS's at all. They
will have there own shell types, however, KingCON probably won't work
on Power Amiga's anyway.
· Please do tell us if this trick works on other KingCON variants.
